HTTP response to House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee Hearing

In response to today’s House of Representatives Energy & Commerce subcommittee hearing on the Internet, the following statement is from Alejandro Roark, Executive Director of the Hispanic Technology & Telecommunications Partnership (www.httppolicy.org):

“Today’s hearing had important information about the state of U.S. broadband but the real test is whether Congress will take the bold action that finally ends our society’s ‘broadband gap.’ The only realistic way to reach that goal is to further encourage broadband investment, especially 5G wireless, and at every level eliminate regulatory hurdles that slow Americans’ ability to use emerging technologies. While this is a key issue for Latinos, it’s importance extends to all Americans, especially those in rural and underserved areas.”
