HTTP Writes to Congressional Leadership and Advocates for Broadband Expansion to Empower Latino Communities

On February 4, 2025, HTTP (Hispanic Tech and Telecommunications Partnerships) reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring Latino communities, and the nation as a whole, are fully equipped to compete in the digital economy. HTTP sent a pivotal letter to Congressional leadership, urging them to safeguard and expand broadband infrastructure funding. This critical action highlights HTTP’s ongoing dedication to strategic, bipartisan investments to digital empowerment and broadband expansion for all.

In the letter addressed to key Congressional leaders, HTTP voiced deep concerns over potential pauses or reductions in broadband infrastructure investments. We continued emphasizing that reliable, high-speed internet is not merely a convenience but a cornerstone of economic mobility, educational opportunity, and workforce development. HTTP warned that limiting broadband expansion efforts would disproportionately impact Latino communities, where nearly 1 in 3 households still lack a broadband subscription.

HTTP’s advocacy highlighted that undermining broadband investments could hinder widen the digital divide, stifle innovation, weaken national security and limit our nation’s competitiveness on a global scale. HTTP continues to call on Congress to seek clarity on these directives and ensure that states and local governments can effectively deploy critical resources.
